Rosewell is located approx. 9 miles from Edinburgh City Centre in a semi-rural location and is ideally located for the commuter as it has easy access to the city by-pass.
The nearest town is Bonnyrigg, just 2 miles to the east on the A6094 which provides an extensive range of shops together with a secondary school and large health centre. Further to the east lies Eskbank with access to a supermarket and train station (with park and ride access into Edinburgh centre).
The surrounding area provides a rural setting and is in close proximity to many walks and cycle routes in the surrounding countryside; Roslin Glen Country Park and the Pentland Hills are within easy reach (approx. 2 miles and 5 miles respectively). The Whitehill Golf Course is situated to the southeast of the village and there is also a community hall, bowling green, football pitch, public house and public park within the village.
The village has two Primary Schools (Rosewell Primary and St Matthews RC Primary). The site catchment areas for secondary schooling are Bonnyrigg for Lasswade High School or Dalkeith for St David’s RC High School.
A Community Hospital can be found in nearby Bonnyrigg and there is a 24 hour Tesco store in Eskbank. The area also offers a variety of places of interest close by such as, Dalkeith Palace and Park and Rosslyn Chapel.
